What They Make
HPC Fire Inspired is the trade name of Hearth Products Controls Co. of Miamisburg, Ohio, which says it has been in business since 1975. Its core business is the burner system and the controls that run it.
The main range is certified gas fire pit inserts in stainless steel, for natural gas or propane, in round bowl and flat, square bowl and flat, rectangle H-burner and linear trough, and linear interlink styles. Round bowl inserts come in 13, 19, 25, 31, 37 and 43 in. Burner kits, match lit kits and Penta burner kits sit alongside them. Ignition is sold as its own category: hot surface ignition systems at 24 V and 12 V, control boxes for on/off and hi/lo, timers and an E-stop.
HPC also sells finished pieces built around its inserts. They include lightweight concrete fire pits (Alea, Avera, Belmont, Bravo, Element, Serenade, Sonoma), the Copper Bowl Series (Mesa, Sedona, Tempe, Phoenix, Sierra), the Evolution 360 hammered copper bowl, spun aluminum bowls and fire-and-water series. For media it sells Fire Pit Glass and river rock, and Fire Fab handles custom metal fabrication.

How to Tell Their Pieces Apart
The insert pages sort by burner shape, ignition style, power option and fuel, and those four choices make up the catalog. The power options are 120 VAC and 24 VAC.
Ignition comes in several tiers: match lit, push-button flame sensing, electronic on/off, and electronic hi/lo with a Bluetooth app. Hi/lo adds flame height control and app control, and on/off only switches the burner on and off. Match lit and push-button also come in small tank variants. We haven't confirmed what small tank means, so read the manual before you assume.
Certification varies by product. HPC says it holds CSA certification and lists more than 400 certified products, and its insert manuals state ANSI Z21.97-2014 / CSA 2.41-2014, the standard for outdoor decorative gas appliances. The insert pages also offer a non-certified option, so check the one you pick before you assume an inspector will accept it. The complete fire features wrap lightweight concrete or copper shells around HPC inserts.
Who It Suits, and Who It Doesn't
In our view, HPC is a strong fit for a builder or homeowner finishing a masonry or ready-to-finish enclosure who needs the insert to carry a listing an inspector will accept.
It's a weaker fit for a buyer who wants a finished designer piece out of the box, because the range of complete fire features is narrower than the range of inserts.
HPC's warranty gives stainless steel burners a lifetime term for residential use, and electronic components and gas valves three years. It covers the original customer only, requires an RMA, and excludes installation, overheating and modification.
